The position of the fronts, lows, and highs depends on the person who draws the weather map, that thing is very crafty, and computers cannot give it the human touch that it needs. These Surface weather maps commonly display High and Low-Pressure Centres, Frontal Systems, and sometimes Areas Of Precipitation or Isobars. It has to start by drawing “isobars” to show lines of equal pressure, in-between the individual station’s pressure reading, since there is a lot of distance between stations, the lines.

Since the Mid-19th century, such maps have been in use for research and weather forecasting purposes. To locate weather fronts, maps using isotherms that show temperature gradients that can help to locate them. Isotach maps, analyzing lines of equal wind speed, on a constant pressure surface of 300 or 250 hpa show where the jet stream is taking place. The use of the Constant Pressure charts at the 700 and 500 hpa levels can indicate Tropical Cyclone motion.

The two-dimensional streamlines that are based on wind speeds at various levels show areas of convergence and divergence in the wind field. That divergence and convergence come in the wind fields due to the two-dimensional streamlines helping determine the location of features within the wind pattern. Moreover, for the time, it was important to be standardized across time zones so that the information on the map should accurately represents the weather at a given time.
